P&F Association | Working Bees | Fund Raising | Canteen | Parents at School | School Board

Parents and Friends Association

This Association endeavors to foster a good social atmosphere at the school and to raise funds for school requirements. The evening meetings are held regularly and are advertised in the school newsletter. (P & F Member details are sent home annually) All parents are invited as their support is vital to the fund raising of the group.

Fund Raising Activities

There is one major fund raiser for the year, The Fete, which is usually held in November. This is supported by a fund raising levy on each family so that all families are able to participate in the necessary fund raising activities of the school.

Canteen

The Parents and Friends Association is responsible for the School Canteen. An honorary canteen manager appointed by the Parents and Friends administers the general operation of the shop.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer their services to work the shop on a regular basis. It's a great way to meet other parents, and can be lots of fun!

Parents at School

In a school such as ours the support and participation of Parents and Friends is vital. This includes management, maintenance, fund raising and social participation through the School Board, the Parents and Friends Association and the Parents and Friends Social Group.

Parents are also encouraged to assist at the school with work in the Canteen, Classroom, on Excursions, Sports, Subcommittees, as well as other ways that are requested from time to time.

We encourage parents to visit the rooms and see their children 'in action'. Talk about this with the Class Teacher.

School Board

The Board exists "to ensure that the school fulfils its Christian Educational responsibility and to administer school finances". (Catholic Schools Handbook p.2.)

  • As an incorporated body, the Board has a legal responsibility not only in the area of finance, but also for the safety, health and welfare of its children and its employees.

The Annual General Meeting of the Board is usually held in February. It gives the Board the opportunity to report to its community, giving an account of the task it has undertaken on behalf of the community. It is also the opportunity for the community to acknowledge its responsibility for Catholic Education and to endorse the operation of its School Board.

Parent Information Night is combined with A.G.M. This provides parents with the opportunity to meet with the teachers.

The meeting includes:

  1. Chairperson's Report
  2. Principal's Report
  3. Financial / Draft Budget Report
  4. Voting for membership by secret ballot when necessary

CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL BOARD MEETS MONTHLY AND BOARD MEMBERS MAY BE CONTACTED THROUGH THE SCHOOL, OR DIRECTLY. (Board Member details are sent home annually)

The Board consists of the Priest (President), the Principal, six Elected Members, Parish Council Representative, Parents and Friends Representative, Staff Representative, (and appointed members if necessary).
